Former Yemeni President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi has died in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at the age of 80, according to government sources. Hadi had been residing in the Saudi capital since relinquishing power following the formation of the Presidential Leadership Council in April 2022. Since that time, he had lived away from public view. President Hadi officially assumed power from President Ali Abdullah Saleh on February 27, 2012, following consensus-based presidential elections held in accordance with the Gulf Initiative and its executive mechanism. The circumstances surrounding his death have been attributed by some reports to "medical negligence." |
