Rare Yemeni Artifacts and Manuscripts Up for Auction in US and UK

Specialist Abdullah Mohsen has reported a new wave of illicit sales of Yemeni artifacts, with five US and UK auctions scheduled to offer rare items this month.

Mohsen, who specializes in tracking smuggled Yemeni antiquities, stated on Facebook that a number of these artifacts are slated for sale in the coming days. The auctions include Artemis Gallery, Butterfields, Rivere Auctions, and Freeman's in the United States, as well as Lyon & Turnbull in the United Kingdom.

He noted that these international auction houses are offering Yemeni artifacts and rare manuscripts for direct sale, bypassing traditional auctions. This occurs after the items have been illegally removed from their original locations in Yemen.

Mohsen included an image of an ancient camel statue with his post, though the specific types of artifacts to be offered at these auctions remain unknown.
