A fire at a domestic gas distribution agency in Yemen's Marib Governorate resulted in the death of one person and injuries to seven others, including several minors. Civil Defense authorities in Marib confirmed that the incident claimed the life of Awad Ahmed Rakan, 40, the owner of the gas distribution agency located in the Upper Al-Jufaynah area. Seven other individuals sustained injuries, with the affected children reportedly ranging in age from 10 to 16 years old. The blaze reportedly erupted while the deceased owner was in the process of unloading a gas cylinder. Authorities indicated that a subsequent gas leak ignited the fire, leading to the reported casualties. According to the Security Media Center affiliated with the Yemeni Ministry of Interior, the owner was killed in the incident, and the seven injured parties were transported to receive necessary medical treatment. Civil Defense attributed the cause of the catastrophe to negligence and a failure to adhere to established safety protocols and procedures when handling gas and other flammable materials. They reiterated an urgent appeal for strict compliance with safety standards to prevent the recurrence of similar accidents. |
