UNMHA and OSESGY discuss transition arrangements

In the context of Security Council resolution 2813 of 27 January 2026, which extended the mandate of the United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) mission for a final two-month period until 31 March and requested that a transfer and liquidation plan for UNMHA be prepared in consultation with the Yemeni parties and to start the transfer of its residual functions to The Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General (OSESGY).

A joint UNMHA-OSESGY delegation led by UNMHA Officer-in-Charge, Ms. Mari Yamashita, met with members of the Redeployment Coordination Committee (RCC) in Hudaydah. Discussions focused on joint achievements by the RCC, residual tasks and transition arrangements to OSESGY.

UNMHA and OSESGY reiterated the commitment of the United Nations to continue supporting the implementation of the Hudaydah Agreement and the importance of sustained communication and cooperation in support of stability in Hudaydah and in Yemen.

UNMHA delegation also met with officials in Sana’a to reaffirm the United Nations’ commitment to the Stockholm Agreement, to exchange views on the transition arrangements and agreed to maintaining constructive communication with relevant stakeholders throughout the process.
