A physician working at Al-Thawra General Hospital in the Houthi-controlled capital of Sana'a has accused the management appointed by the militia of implementing restrictive policies against employees, including delaying salary payments, exerting security pressure on those demanding their rights, and abolishing the staff's health insurance system. Dr. Hanan Al-Attab stated on her Facebook page that the head of the hospital authority, Khalid Al-Madani, appointed by the militia, had failed to disburse salaries and dues for January as of February 22nd. This delay has significantly exacerbated the suffering of employees and physicians amid the nation's deteriorating economic conditions. Al-Attab further detailed that several employees who sought disbursement of their entitlements faced threats and summonses from security agencies, including intelligence services and the Public Funds Prosecution. She noted that the labor union, which championed the workers' demands, has also encountered similar pressures. The physician added that a sense of anxiety pervades the workforce, driven by fears that rights could be entirely forfeited if silence persists. She called for the unification of ranks and collective action to demand the overdue payments. In a related development, Al-Attab described the decision to cancel the health insurance coverage for hospital staff as a catastrophic measure that will negatively impact their living and health conditions. She affirmed that she would disclose further details regarding this decision once all relevant information is compiled. |
