Security Campaign in Abyan Dismantles Illegal Toll Points, Seizes Weapons

Security forces in Abyan Governorate executed a broad field operation in the Al-Muhafid district, successfully dismantling unauthorized checkpoints and seizing weapons following reports of armed groups imposing illegal levies and obstructing commercial traffic.

The operation was directly supervised by the Director of Abyan Security, Brigadier General Ali Nasser Bouzaid, and executed under the command of his deputy, Colonel Haitham Al-Saqqaf. Security units moved swiftly to the targeted locations to enforce the cessation of illegal closures and secure vital transit routes.

Security sources confirmed that the campaign resulted in the dismantling of the illegal points, the apprehension of several individuals involved, and the confiscation of arms in their possession. Furthermore, documents used for extorting drivers and travelers were seized. Normal traffic flow for commercial trucks, which had been halted for several days, has since been fully restored.

In a related development, the Abyan Security Directorate formally called upon the leadership of the First Support and Reinforcement Brigade within the district to fully assume their mandated security responsibilities. The Directorate noted that the irregular checkpoints had persisted for days without effective intervention, emphasizing the necessity for accountability and enhanced joint coordination to prevent future administrative and security violations.
