A drone strike attributed to Houthi militias targeted equipment used for constructing a mountain road in the Same' district, south of Yemen's Taiz governorate, resulting in the destruction of machinery and injuries to several workers.

Local sources confirmed that the attack, which occurred on Friday, struck a road-cutting machine in the Najd Sharee area of Jabal Same', halting work on a vital community-led initiative. This project aims to open a mountain route connecting several villages and communities within the district, serving over 32,000 residents in an area severely lacking essential services, particularly road infrastructure.

Following the assault, residents of the Sharee sub-district staged a protest condemning the targeting of the road equipment and the threats issued against those managing the initiative. Protesters demanded an end to what they described as repeated aggressions against community development efforts and service projects.

This incident is part of a pattern of similar attacks that have recently impacted road projects and civil initiatives across various regions, leading to operational shutdowns or equipment damage. Notably, the Al-Aridah road project on Jabal Sabr, implemented by the Khatawat Foundation for Development last year, was previously targeted by a drone strike, causing temporary cessation of work before operations were later resumed, only for new damage to be inflicted upon subsequent attacks.

Furthermore, the militia has previously targeted machinery involved in the construction of the Al-Kadha–Mawza road, a project supported by the National Resistance in the Western Coast, which caused damage to the vehicles and impeded the project's progress.
