Aden, Yemen's temporary capital, was paralyzed Sunday by a severe domestic gas shortage and a halt in public transportation, following the closure of all filling and distribution stations. The crisis stems from a strike by gas truck owners and commercial station operators protesting the fatal shooting of a driver by armed assailants.

Local sources informed "خبر" agency that the shutdown was a direct response to the killing of a gas truck driver by members of an active extortion gang operating on the route between Marib and Aden governorates.

The striking workers are demanding that the Ministry of Interior fulfill its security responsibilities. They called for immediate action to pursue, apprehend, and bring the perpetrators of the crime to justice, emphasizing the need for the harshest legal penalties to prevent impunity.

Protesters stressed that such measures are crucial to deter armed gangs that pose a significant threat to the safety of travelers and workers within the transportation sector.
