Two civilians were injured on Sunday by sniper fire and shrapnel from shelling conducted by the Houthi militia on residential villages in the Sabr Al-Mawaseem district, southeast of Taiz Governorate, southwest Yemen. This incident marks a continuation of the targeting of populated areas.

Local sources reported that Hamoud Al-Haj Qassem Ahmed Dirham, 50, sustained shrapnel wounds to his back and thighs when shelling targeted Al-Najada village. Concurrently, Mohammed Abdulrahman Abdulghani Qassem, 23, was shot in the left eye by a sniper in Al-Aqrosh village.

This incident is part of the ongoing violations perpetrated by the Iran-backed Houthi militia against civilians and civilian infrastructure in Taiz Governorate. Residential areas are subjected to shelling and direct sniper fire, endangering the lives of residents and exacerbating their suffering due to the persistent military operations.

Several fronts in Taiz Governorate are witnessing continuous escalation by the Houthi militia. There are ongoing calls to cease the targeting of civilians and residential areas, and to hold accountable those responsible for the violations affecting the population and their property.
