The United Arab Emirates announced on Tuesday evening the suspension of all commercial activities, economic exchanges, and financial transactions with Iran until further notice. The move comes in response to escalating regional developments and their impact on international security and stability. Afra Al Hameli, Director of the Strategic Communications Department at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that Abu Dhabi has halted all commercial and financial activities and dealings with Tehran "until further notice." She simultaneously denied what she described as "claims" regarding the nature of the economic relationship between the two countries. Al Hameli reaffirmed the UAE's continued commitment to dialogue, cooperation, and regional integration as fundamental pillars for supporting peace, stability, and prosperity in the region. She added that the decision to halt dealings was made "in light of the regional escalation that has undermined regional and international peace and security," emphasizing that the UAE continues to work towards protecting the integrity of the international financial system and adhering to international laws and accepted global standards. This decision comes amidst rising regional tensions and increasing international measures aimed at curbing financial flows and economic activities linked to parties involved in regional security crises. |
