The Iran-backed Houthi militia announced on Tuesday that it targeted Najran Regional Airport in southern Saudi Arabia with an explosive-laden drone. This escalation signifies the militia's persistent efforts to threaten regional security and stability and directly target civilian and vital infrastructure.

Yahya Saree, the military spokesperson for the Houthi militia, claimed that the suicide attack targeted what he described as a "sensitive target" within the airport. He justified the assault with allegations of air violations, a common pretext the group has consistently used to legitimize its operations and evade peace imperatives and imposed humanitarian and political commitments.

This latest military escalation risks hindering regional and international efforts aimed at establishing de-escalation and achieving peace in Yemen. The attack has drawn widespread local and international condemnation, rejecting the militia's intransigence and adherence to Iran's disruptive regional agenda. The group continues to divert the nation's resources and plundered wealth to finance its drone program, disregarding the severe humanitarian and economic suffering endured by the Yemeni people.
