Riyadh, July 4 – The Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen stated that the recent remarks made by the Houthi terrorist militia against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are an attempt to divert attention from the violations the group continues to commit against the Yemeni people. The Coalition said the militia is facing growing tribal and public opposition while seeking to export its economic and political crises beyond Yemen's borders. Coalition spokesperson Major General Turki Al-Maliki said the Houthi militia's claims are a continuation of what he described as an escalatory and hostile approach pursued by the Iran-backed group, aimed at undermining regional and international security and destabilizing the region. Al-Maliki added that Saudi Arabia, in coordination with the Coalition and international partners, has undertaken numerous initiatives to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and has supported a political process based on a roadmap approved by the Yemeni government. However, he said, the Houthi militia refused to engage with the initiative and obstructed efforts to reach a peaceful settlement. He noted that the militia has not only rejected peace initiatives but has also expanded its operations to target international shipping lanes and maritime trade in the southern Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait. According to Al-Maliki, these actions have resulted in severe damage to vital facilities in Yemen, including the ports of Hodeidah, Salif, and Ras Isa, as well as Sanaa International Airport, power stations, factories, and key economic infrastructure. Major General Al-Maliki stressed that the Coalition would respond "firmly and with unprecedented force" to any attempts targeting Saudi Arabia, its citizens, or its critical infrastructure. He also affirmed that the Coalition would confront any violations affecting the sovereignty of the Republic of Yemen while adhering to international humanitarian law and its customary rules. |
