The ongoing conflict in Yemen has escalated beyond traditional battlefronts to inflict severe damage on the nation's future, targeting its youth and educational infrastructure. Millions of children are now deprived of schooling, falling prey to street life and silent conflicts, representing a systematic annihilation of Yemeni intellect and a deliberate effort to transform a generation of potential into fuel for perpetual warfare. This crisis unfolds amidst a global community that professes civilization and freedom.

The situation is particularly dire within areas controlled by the Houthi militia, where educational institutions have been transformed into indoctrination centers. Curricula have been weaponized with narrow, sectarian, and lineage-based ideologies, aiming to eradicate national and republican identity from young minds and replace modern sciences and citizenship with hatred and societal division. This constitutes a ticking time bomb, poised to ignite decades of prolonged conflict if not urgently addressed.

Simultaneously, the militia is systematically abusing educators by withholding their salaries for the tenth consecutive year. Teachers are left in a state of destitution, forced to teach under duress without compensation, facing poverty, persecution, and even abduction for demanding basic sustenance. This has driven pillars of education to seek menial labor to provide for their families.

The tragedy extends to liberated governorates, where teachers, despite receiving salaries, face a harsh reality. The depreciated currency renders their income virtually worthless, insufficient to cover even half of their families' essential needs due to the rapid collapse of the local currency and unprecedented surges in food and service prices. Esteemed educators have thus become direct victims of the collapsing economy, their dignity eroded by inflation and their basic livelihoods threatened.

This systemic destruction of education, from the north to the south, encompasses the ideological perversion by the Houthis and the economic strangulation of teachers in government-controlled areas. The educational system has been hollowed out, its institutions rendered soulless and its academic substance diminished.

The salvation of education in Yemen is no longer an intellectual luxury or a secondary negotiation point; it is a paramount national security issue and an existential matter. It necessitates the immediate depoliticization of schools and curricula and demands urgent intervention to support Yemeni teachers as a top priority. Restoring their financial and living conditions is crucial to preserving their dignity and ensuring family stability. Failure to act will result not in the loss of isolated battles, but in the ruination of an entire nation, transforming a land once known for its wisdom into a wasteland of ignorance, fragmentation, and devastation.
