Yemen's government delegation chief, Hadi Al-Haj, announced efforts are underway to resolve the case of political figure Mohammed Qahtan through a joint committee comprising representatives from the government, the Houthi militia, Qahtan's family, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, aiming to ascertain his health status. Al-Haj stated in televised remarks to Saba Channel that the most recent round of negotiations prioritized Qahtan's case, leading to an agreement to form a quadripartite committee tasked with visiting him and preparing a report on his health condition. He added that the committee, chaired by negotiation delegation member Hassan Al-Kabeisi, has begun liaising with the Houthi militia to arrange the timing and mechanism for the visit, which was initially scheduled for the past few days. According to Al-Haj, the Houthis requested a temporary postponement of the visit pending the finalization of arrangements concerning the timing and implementation method. He indicated that the committee is still awaiting the final date, with expectations that the visit may occur next week. The head of the government delegation affirmed that the objective of this initiative is to verify Mohammed Qahtan's health condition and achieve progress on one of the most significant humanitarian issues related to prisoners and detainees in Yemen. |
