Security agencies in the Yemeni governorates of Taiz and Lahj announced on Tuesday the arrest of suspects involved in two separate incidents of assault using bladed weapons, resulting in injuries to a young man and an elderly individual.

In the Ma'afir district of Taiz, police successfully apprehended a 17-year-old suspect, identified by initials (A.H.A.S.), following an assault where he allegedly stabbed a 22-year-old man (F.A.S.Q.) with a dagger. Police reported that the incident stemmed from a verbal altercation between the two parties, culminating in the victim sustaining a stab wound to the back. The perpetrator has been detained pending the completion of legal proceedings.

In a related development within the Tuban district of Lahj governorate, police arrested a 19-year-old suspect (R.N.M.S.) accused of attacking an 86-year-old man in the "Sabr" area. Investigations revealed that the elderly victim suffered two stab wounds to the abdomen and the left hand from a sharp instrument.

The father of the accused in Lahj, who turned his son over to security forces, stated that the young man suffers from psychological disorders, suggesting the incident occurred due to his failure to adhere to medication during the fasting period. The suspect remains in custody while investigations continue.
