With funding from the Yemen Humanitarian Fund (YHF), Building Foundation for Development (BFD), is implementing an emergency response project through a Health Center, in Al-Jarrahi District, Al-Hudaydah Governorate, which receives numerous cases and offers free health services due to the challenging living conditions. cholera is one of the most widespread diseases in Al-Hudaydah and its districts. Patients, like Sua’ad, arrive at the center, where she underwent the necessary tests and was immediately administered IV fluids and oral rehydration solution due to dehydration, along with close monitoring of their her vital signs. The tests confirmed she had cholera, and she was referred to the diarrhea ward for continuous monitoring. Because of long distances and high treatment costs, it had become difficult for low-income families to access health facilities. However, with the availability of free healthcare services, this is no longer the case, and the number of visitors to the center has significantly increased. Cholera is a bacterial disease spread through contaminated water or food, leading to severe diarrhea and rapid dehydration. It is a fast-moving epidemic that can be life-threatening if not treated promptly. |
