Houthi Attacks in Taiz Kill 11 Civilians and Injure 53 in One Week

TAIZ, Yemen — The Taiz Siege Affairs Office has reported that the death toll from Houthi shelling and attacks on residential neighborhoods and villages in Taiz city and its surrounding countryside has risen to 11 civilians killed and 53 wounded between October 14 and 21, most of them women and children.

According to the office, field monitoring data showed that most casualties resulted from intense artillery and rocket bombardment targeting homes and densely populated neighborhoods. Additional injuries were reported from sniper fire, drone attacks and landmine explosions.

The office called on Yemen’s internationally recognized government, the coalition, the United Nations and relevant international organizations to intervene urgently to protect civilians and help halt Houthi attacks to prevent further loss of innocent lives.
