Trump Appoints Yemeni-American Amir Ghalib Envoy for Arab American Affairs

Amir Ghalib, a prominent American of Yemeni descent and former Mayor of Hamtramck, Michigan, has announced his appointment by President Donald Trump as a special envoy and advisor for Arab American affairs in the United States.

Ghalib revealed the appointment in a statement published on his official Facebook page, expressing his appreciation for President Trump's confidence and continued support. He acknowledged facing opposition campaigns from the outset of his career but affirmed his commitment to his new role.

He stated his intention to convey the concerns and aspirations of the Arab American community to decision-makers at the White House. Ghalib emphasized his dedication to representing the diverse segments of the Arab American community, including those with differing viewpoints.

In addition to his new advisory position, Ghalib will continue his work as a Senior Advisor for Strategic Partnerships at AmeriCorps, a federal agency focused on fostering public service and community engagement across the United States and its territories.
