Yemeni government forces have announced the recapture of the strategic port city of Mocha in western Taiz province following intense clashes with Houthi militants. This development marks a significant shift in the ongoing military operations within the governorate.

The Yemeni News Agency (SABA) reported that units from the "Shield of the Homeland" forces, the Giants Brigades, and the Tihama Resistance, supported by popular resistance fighters and air support, successfully regained control of Mocha. The city had been under Houthi control since early September.

According to a military source, the engagements extended to several surrounding areas, involving various weaponry. The source indicated that Houthi militants sustained casualties and injuries, with a number of their fighters being captured while others fled the combat zones.

Government forces are continuing their pursuit of remaining Houthi elements, concurrently conducting sweeps to secure controlled neighborhoods, positions, and facilities. The objective is to prevent any residual armed pockets within or around the city.

The recapture of Mocha is part of broader military operations undertaken by government forces under the directives of the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council. These operations, part of the "Dawn of Yemen" campaign, aim to restore state institutions and end the Houthi control over vast territories of the country.
