Units from the First Commando Brigade of the National Resistance, supported by the Fourth Hazm Brigade, launched a surprise offensive against Houthi positions in the Al-Qubayta fronts in northern Lahj and Haifan in southern Taiz on Monday. Field sources reported significant advances by the government forces, who recaptured key locations from the Houthi militia, including Jabal Al-Mandhara, Al-Ashareef, and Dhiban. These strategic positions provide tactical observation and firepower over the Al-Khazja market in the Tor Al-Baha-Haifan front. The forces also seized military vehicles, anti-tank weapons, and artillery left behind by fleeing Houthi elements. The advance by the First Commando Brigade and the Fourth Hazm Brigade is reportedly ongoing, pushing from the Al-Qubayta fronts in Lahj towards the Haifan district and the Al-Abous region in Taiz governorate. This operation is part of a broader offensive codenamed "Dawn of Yemen." In an apparent attempt to impede the government forces' progress, Houthi militias reportedly booby-trapped and detonated culverts along the Ayyarim-Najd Dhamran road in the Al-Qubayta and Karsh areas, as government troops neared full control of the Dhamran fronts. |
