Tribal gunmen in Shabwah Governorate have halted the movement of gas trucks and tankers destined for Marib Governorate.

The action follows the establishment of a tribal checkpoint on the outskirts of the city of Ataq, according to local sources. This development signals a potential escalation that could impact energy supply routes between governorates.

Sources indicated that the gunmen prevented several gas tankers heading to Marib from passing. Those responsible for the blockade described the measure as an act of "reciprocity," in response to previous tribal checkpoints in Marib Governorate that targeted gas and fuel tankers bound for the southern governorates.

This development occurs amidst ongoing tensions related to the transportation of oil derivatives and gas between Yemeni governorates. Previous seizures of tankers have led to fuel supply disruptions, affected the operation of power generation stations and transportation, and directly impacted the living conditions of residents.

Local sources and observers have warned that the continuation of mutual tanker seizures could exacerbate the fuel and domestic gas crisis in the targeted areas and further complicate supply movements between governorates, at a time when the country faces increasing economic and humanitarian challenges.

Aden has recorded 1,475 cases of dengue fever, including 14 fatalities, since the beginning of the year, according to the Ministry of Health and Population in the interim capital.

The ministry's epidemiological bulletin revealed that from January 1 to June 14, 1,475 confirmed and suspected cases were registered. Laboratory tests confirmed 238 cases of the disease. The bulletin noted that 14 deaths were linked to the outbreak.

Dar Saad district reported the highest number of infections with 277 cases, followed by Sheikh Othman district with 270 cases, and Al-Mansoura district with 211 cases. Sheikh Othman and Al-Mualla districts recorded the highest number of deaths, with three fatalities each.

The Ministry of Health attributed the continued spread of dengue fever to the proliferation of the disease-carrying mosquito, exacerbated by deteriorating environmental and health conditions. Citizens are urged to adhere to preventive measures, work to eliminate mosquito breeding sites, and seek medical attention immediately upon the appearance of symptoms.

Dengue fever is a viral disease transmitted by mosquito bites. Symptoms include high fever, severe headache, joint and muscle pain, and nausea. In some severe cases, it can lead to dangerous complications and death.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has reported 58 security incidents targeting vessels in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz between February 28 and June 15, 2026.

The authority's statistical summary detailed 31 direct attacks, 25 reports of suspicious activity, and two hijacking incidents involving commercial ships and oil tankers in these strategic maritime corridors.

Attacks included the use of unidentified projectiles and drones, as well as small boat incursions involving gunfire. These actions resulted in fires, structural damage to vessels, crew injuries, disappearances, and emergency evacuations in several instances.

Suspicious activities encompassed the approach of boats carrying armed individuals, projectiles landing near ships, explosions, and the transmission of misleading VHF radio communications to alter vessel routes. Unexplained fires in engine rooms were also reported.

The two hijacking incidents occurred off the coast of Somalia, where unauthorized individuals seized cargo ships and directed them toward Somali territorial waters. The incidents were geographically distributed across the coasts of Yemen, Oman, and the UAE, as well as waters near Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Iran, and Somalia, with a notable concentration in the Strait of Hormuz, the Gulf of Oman, and the Gulf of Aden.

UKMTO warned of potential electronic interference from increased military activity in the region, which could impact navigation, tracking, and communication systems. The authority urged all vessels to exercise extreme caution and report any suspicious activity immediately. Adherence to Best Management Practices (BMP) for maritime security was emphasized to ensure safe navigation and mitigate risks in this critical global trade and energy artery.

Aden police have launched two separate investigations into the mysterious deaths of two women in the temporary capital city of Aden. Authorities are examining circumstances surrounding the discovery of a woman's body in a hotel and an elderly woman found deceased in another district.

In the Sheikh Othman district, police initiated a broad inquiry after a 31-year-old woman, identified only by her initials T.A.A., was found dead in a hotel. A Chinese-made Glock pistol was discovered next to her body, and initial examination of the scene revealed a gunshot wound to the head. Forensic procedures were completed at the scene before the body was transferred to the hospital morgue for a post-mortem examination and the preparation of a medical report. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause and circumstances of her death.

Concurrently, police in the Al-Mualla district are investigating the discovery of the body of an approximately 80-year-old Somali woman. No apparent signs of foul play were noted on the body. Legal procedures were finalized at the discovery site, and the body was subsequently moved to the hospital for forensic examination to ascertain the cause of death.

Security authorities have confirmed that investigations into both cases are active and ongoing. Any further developments will be announced upon the completion of legal and technical procedures.

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi announced on state television that an immediate and permanent cessation of hostilities and military operations on all fronts, including Lebanon, will commence tonight.

Gharibabadi stated that negotiations for a final agreement will take place over a 60-day period. He further indicated that Tehran will implement its own measures should any "violations occur by the other party."

This announcement comes amid broader geopolitical developments. Separately, U.S. President Donald Trump commented that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened on Friday, contingent upon the signing of an agreement.

The news regarding the ceasefire follows reports of unrelated incidents, including a house collapse in Al-Jumaimah that resulted in the deaths of a mother and her four children, and the killing of a young man in the Jawf desert following an armed pursuit en route to Saudi Arabia. Additionally, reports mentioned Houthi-imposed tax enforcement in Hudaydah causing significant damage to qat quantities and substantial losses for vendors, and a nighttime protest in Aden near the Ma'ashiq Palace expressing discontent over deteriorating services.

Houthi-affiliated leaders' decision to increase tax fees on Qat vendors in the Bajil district of Hodeidah province has resulted in significant financial losses for farmers and traders, following the spoilage of large quantities of Qat held up at the "Bab Al-Naqah" checkpoint.

Local sources reported that the tax official in the Bab Al-Naqah area of Bajil district, identified as "Abu Mohammed," detained several Qat vendor vehicles under direct orders from the Director General of Taxes in the district, "Sadeq Al-Basha."

The sources clarified that the detention decision was made to pressure vendors into accepting a new tax rate, which increased the fees from 200 Yemeni Rials to 300 Yemeni Rials per kilogram without legal justification.

According to the same sources, the prolonged detention period under the sun caused the Qat loaded onto the detained vehicles to spoil, leading to its complete destruction and incurring millions of Rials in losses for the traders.

The affected Qat vendors and traders have issued an urgent appeal to the Houthi-controlled Tax Authority, demanding immediate intervention and the formation of an investigation committee to visit the site and ascertain the circumstances of the incident. The affected parties hold the tax officials in Bajil district fully legally and morally responsible for the damages incurred, demanding fair compensation for the losses resulting from the arbitrary and unlawful detention.

Local sources reported that a severe disagreement erupted between two parties from the local population regarding land ownership, which rapidly escalated to the use of firearms and intense exchanges of gunfire between the two sides.

According to the sources, the bloody confrontations resulted in the deaths of four people. From the first party, citizen Ahmed bin Mahdi Ahmed was killed. From the other party, Houthi leader Khaled Jubran and two of his sons were killed, in addition to a fourth fatality from the involved parties.

The sources added that the clashes also left five injured, including two brothers of citizen Ahmed Mahdi and three others from the Abu Nashir family. They were transported to the hospital for treatment amidst a tense atmosphere in the region.

This incident occurs amid a notable increase in land and property disputes in Saada Governorate and areas under Houthi control. This trend is fueled by the absence of decisive judicial solutions, the involvement of Houthi leaders in property looting, and ongoing security disintegration.

Yemen faces an escalating humanitarian crisis, characterized by widespread deprivation, systemic oppression, and a rapidly deteriorating socio-economic landscape. Millions of citizens endure continuous hardship across all facets of daily life, with critical infrastructure in ruins and essential services virtually nonexistent. The nation grapples with alarming poverty rates, rampant epidemics, and a severe erosion of public rights and freedoms, painting a grim picture of a country struggling for survival against fragmentation, systematic ignorance, and extreme poverty.

Global food security indicators place Yemen at the forefront of nations most affected by hunger, where daily survival is a paramount concern for families unable to cope with skyrocketing prices of essential food items. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), approximately 22.3 million Yemenis, over two-thirds of the population, require urgent humanitarian aid and protection services. Of this staggering number, nearly 18.3 million face acute food insecurity, with over 41,000 individuals nearing the catastrophic fifth level of the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), indicating actual famine. The majority of those in critical need are concentrated in areas controlled by the Houthi militia, due to restrictions on trade and aid movement.

The situation is further exacerbated by declining international funding for humanitarian response plans. The meager funding received has failed to address the minimum requirements of the crisis, leaving millions of children and women vulnerable to starvation. Field reports confirm deaths due to severe malnutrition in displacement camps across Hajjah, Marib, and other governorates.

Economic collapse and currency devaluation have rendered poverty a pervasive, inescapable reality for Yemenis. The banking sector's fragmentation and the dramatic depreciation of the Yemeni Riyal have crippled citizens' capabilities. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) reports that approximately 82.7% of the population lives below the multidimensional poverty line, signifying a lack of income, education, healthcare, and essential services for the vast majority. The historical decline of the Yemeni Riyal in government-controlled areas, where the US dollar exchange rate has reached unprecedented levels, has widened the chasm between meager wages and the cost of living. This is compounded by the prolonged absence of salaries for hundreds of thousands of public sector employees for years, leading to the complete disappearance of the middle class and the inclusion of millions of new families into the ranks of the destitute, wholly reliant on meager remittances or scarce aid.

The healthcare sector is in a state of paralysis, with over half of medical facilities and hospitals non-operational due to direct damage, insufficient budgets, or a lack of essential supplies and energy. This humanitarian deficit results in over 67% of the population being denied basic medical care, allowing the resurgence of deadly diseases and epidemics previously eradicated, such as cholera, diphtheria, measles, and polio. Reports from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) indicate that the ongoing conflict and service collapse have led to a terrifying increase in maternal and neonatal mortality rates. Approximately 1.3 million pregnant and lactating women suffer from severe malnutrition, threatening their lives and those of their children, while maternity and child hospitals struggle to provide services due to power outages and the collapse of the healthcare system.

The education system is undergoing widespread destruction, threatening to produce a generation steeped in ignorance and illiteracy. Estimates suggest that hundreds of schools and educational facilities have been completely or partially destroyed, or repurposed as military barracks and displacement shelters. According to local and international statistics for 2026, over two million children are out of school, a number projected to rise as families struggle to afford educational supplies, forcing children into precarious labor markets to aid their families' survival. This tragedy is amplified in Houthi-controlled areas, where curricula have been drastically altered, replacing scientific and educational content with sectarian ideologies that incite violence and hatred. Concurrently, teachers are deprived of their salaries and rights, compelling thousands to abandon teaching for alternative professions that provide a basic livelihood.

Developmental and service infrastructure has ground to a halt, plunging cities and villages into darkness due to persistent government electricity outages and the prohibitive cost of alternative energy sources. The crisis of safe drinking water represents one of the most severe developmental disasters, with over 18 million Yemenis lacking access to safe water and sanitation networks. This forces women and children to travel long distances daily for limited, often contaminated, water supplies. Climate change and devastating floods in several governorates have further damaged mountainous roads and vital bridges, isolating entire regions and hindering the delivery of food and medicine. Reconstruction and development efforts appear entirely absent amidst a lack of funding and governmental disarray.

International reports classify Yemen as having one of the world's largest internal displacement crises. The ongoing conflict and deteriorating economic and climatic conditions have forced approximately 4.8 million citizens to abandon their homes and farms, seeking refuge in makeshift camps. These internally displaced persons (IDPs) live in camps lacking the most basic human dignity, with temporary shelters of cloth and straw offering little protection from extreme weather. There is a severe scarcity of food aid and healthcare. Marib Governorate hosts the largest number of these displaced individuals, with hundreds of camps facing immense pressure exceeding their capacity. Displaced families are constantly exposed to environmental and security risks, including landmines and war remnants that surround the camps and claim civilian lives almost daily.

The tragic narrative of Yemen is further compounded by a fierce and unprecedented assault on public rights and freedoms, transforming the country into a high-risk environment for journalists, human rights activists, and dissenting voices. In Sana'a and other Houthi-controlled areas, a policy of silencing dissent is enforced through kidnappings, enforced disappearances, and sham political trials that have resulted in death sentences for activists and journalists. Independent newspapers, cultural cafes, and local radio stations have been shut down, and the media landscape has been completely nationalized. This suppression of rights extends beyond the media, imposing strict restrictions on women's movement and personal freedoms, and persecuting workers in international and humanitarian organizations on charges of espionage and collaboration. This has crippled civil society and plunged the country into a state of pervasive fear, terror, and silence, away from the scrutiny of international and local human rights monitoring.

These alarming figures and firsthand accounts do not merely depict a transient decline in a developing nation's indicators; they sound a final alarm for the fate of an entire people being slowly annihilated amidst suspicious international silence and a continuous decline in humanitarian funding. Rescuing Yemen from this profound abyss requires more than temporary food aid. The Yemeni populace urgently needs the restoration of state institutions, the unification of the monetary and banking system to save the currency, the lifting of blockades on vital cities and roads, and an end to gross violations of freedoms. These are indispensable foundational steps to halt the ongoing human and developmental hemorrhage that is systematically eradicating the remaining vestiges of life in the "Land of Happiness."

This incident underscores the severe humanitarian suffering endured by displaced populations amid challenging living circumstances.

Social activist Issa Al-Rajhi stated that the deceased woman was the wife of the late Abdullah Abdo Mustabani, known as "Abu Hashem." She passed away within the same camp just weeks after her husband, succumbing to harsh health and living conditions.

Al-Rajhi explained in a Facebook post that the woman's health rapidly declined due to a lack of food and inadequate medical care. He highlighted that this situation reflects a tragic reality that thousands of displaced individuals in the region are experiencing.

He further noted that many displaced families in the Abs camps are living under extremely difficult humanitarian conditions. This is compounded by a decline in relief aid and a lack of basic necessities within the camps, exacerbating the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Hajjah Governorate.

Reports indicate that the Houthi-controlled Zakat Authority has distributed spoiled wheat, unfit for human consumption, to thousands of needy families in several controlled governorates, raising significant public outcry and health concerns.

Local sources and informed individuals have revealed that the spoiled grain, intended for food assistance programs funded by Zakat money, was distributed despite its unsuitability for consumption. The shipment reportedly sustained damage due to moisture during sea transport and poor storage conditions, leading to the spoilage of large portions before distribution.

These sources also pointed to suspicions of corruption surrounding the procurement of the shipment, suggesting it was facilitated by individuals connected to the militia. Citizens in various areas confirmed that the distributed wheat exhibited signs of spoilage and rot, fueling fears of severe health consequences for impoverished families already struggling with food insecurity.

Observers contend that the distribution of unfit food items constitutes a grave violation of the right to safe food and endangers civilian lives, particularly within the context of the deteriorating humanitarian conditions faced by millions of Yemenis due to the Houthi coup and ongoing economic crisis.

Activists and human rights organizations have called for an independent and transparent investigation into the circumstances of this incident. They demand accountability for those responsible for the procurement or distribution of any damaged foodstuffs, emphasizing that exploiting the needs of the poor and providing them with substandard provisions is an affront to their human dignity and a breach of international humanitarian and health standards.

Waleed Sabra, the detained lawyer's brother, stated on Facebook that during a recent visit, a Houthi security supervisor identified as "Abu Saree'" told his brother, "Don't smile, you are our guest for two years." This remark has intensified the family's concerns regarding the legal basis for such extended detention without due process.

The pressure has extended beyond the detained lawyer to his family directly. Another security leader, "Abu Amir Al-Sana'ani," allegedly threatened to detain one of the lawyer's brothers who is active on social media, according to the family.

Tribesmen from the Al-Mahashmah tribe in Al Jawf Governorate, northeastern Yemen, have successfully rescued three individuals who were stranded and suffering from severe dehydration in the desert. Tragically, a fourth person died from thirst before rescuers could reach them.

Local sources reported that the young men launched an extensive search operation deep within the desert immediately after receiving a report of four missing persons. The initial phase of the search and tracking efforts led to the discovery of three of the missing individuals. Two of them received immediate first aid and survived, while the third was found to have died from acute dehydration.

According to the sources, desert combing and tracking operations continued for several continuous hours until the fourth missing person was found alive at precisely ten o'clock last night.

Incidents of people getting lost in the Al Jawf desert are recurrent, largely attributed to the Houthi militia's closure of main roads for years. This forces travelers to take alternative, rugged routes that lack safety measures and mobile network coverage. Those traversing these paths face dangers such as vehicle breakdowns, getting stuck in quicksand, and running out of water, often resulting in fatalities. Continuous human rights and local appeals are being made to reopen the roads to end this suffering, which claims lives on a near-weekly basis.

The interim capital of Aden and other liberated Yemeni provinces are enduring a new phase of humanitarian and living conditions that have surpassed all tolerance. Amidst this, popular and political questions are mounting regarding the role of the internationally recognized legitimate government, which the public now holds directly responsible for this accelerating deterioration. These regions are witnessing an unprecedented decline in public services, rampant insecurity, and a surge in crime rates that threaten social stability, all against a backdrop of government inaction and a complete absence of radical solutions.

The crisis in public services in Aden and surrounding provinces has transcended mere complaint to become a matter of public opinion, linked to the fundamental right to life. The electricity sector is at the forefront of this collapse, with residents experiencing prolonged power outages often exceeding ten hours, contrasted with only two hours of supply. This occurs amidst stifling summer conditions where temperatures soar above 48 degrees Celsius, rendering homes uninhabitable and exacerbating the suffering of patients in hospitals, the elderly, and children due to the lack of cooling and potable water.

The Yemeni government, through its Ministry of Electricity and affiliated institutions, appears incapable of securing fuel for power generation stations. It relies heavily on temporary fixes, postponed promises, and regional grants that quickly deplete without sustainable solutions. The crisis extends beyond energy to water, environmental, and health sectors, with deteriorating pumping networks and sewage inundation in residential areas leading to the spread of epidemics and fatal diseases. This is compounded by a severe decline in medical services at government hospitals, which lack basic medical supplies and life-saving medications. The persistence of these crises highlights the government's failure in managing services and its apparent abandonment of its constitutional and legal duties towards citizens who fund the state treasury through taxes without receiving minimal rights.

In terms of security, Aden and the liberated provinces are experiencing chaos and unrest due to the absence of a unified security strategy and the multiplicity of military allegiances within single cities. Despite repeated announcements of plans for military repositioning and the removal of camps from cities, the reality on the ground indicates continued division and overlapping jurisdictions among various security agencies that have not been truly integrated under a unified command reporting to the Ministry of Interior. This institutional fragmentation has weakened judicial oversight and control over the proliferation of illicit arms, which are openly bought and sold and carried by civilians and military personnel without accountability.

The manifestations of this insecurity include violent armed clashes that erupt periodically in densely populated residential areas, often stemming from land disputes or personal rivalries between security and military leaders, resulting in the deaths of innocent civilians. The Yemeni government's inability to enforce state authority and unify security decisions under the official legal framework has turned liberated cities into open arenas for settling political and personal scores, eroding citizens' sense of security within their homes or workplaces. This represents a dangerous regression that undermines all claims of stability and recovery promoted by official discourse.

The deterioration of living conditions and security has led to a frightening and unprecedented rise in crime rates of all kinds in Aden, Lahj, Marib, Abyan, and Taiz. Daily news from the liberated provinces is dominated by reports of premeditated murder, armed robbery, raids on businesses and homes, and assaults on public and private property. A notable recent development is the emergence of organized crime and networks involved in smuggling and distributing drugs and hallucinogenic pills, systematically targeting youth amidst widespread frustration, unemployment, and dire poverty resulting from the economic collapse.

The cities have also witnessed assassinations of military and security leaders, judges, imams, and activists, in addition to the growing prevalence of domestic killings and armed conflicts within families due to severe psychological and living pressures. The government bears full responsibility for this dire situation due to the negligence of its intelligence and criminal investigation agencies in pursuing criminals, apprehending perpetrators, and bringing them to justice for deterrent punishment.

The absence of strict legal accountability and the allowance of tribal and military mediations and interventions to release suspects have emboldened criminal gangs and individuals, fostering a culture of impunity in a society once known for its civility, order, and law. This alarming trend contributes to the pervasive sense of insecurity and lawlessness.

The security and service sectors are inextricably linked to the catastrophic economic collapse caused by the Yemeni government's failed financial policies and its inability to manage public resources effectively. The local currency has experienced a severe historical depreciation against foreign currencies, leading to a frenzied increase in the prices of food, essential goods, and petroleum products, pushing the purchasing power of citizens to its lowest levels ever.

This monetary collapse is coupled with a crippling salary crisis, as salaries for government employees, retirees, and military and security personnel are delayed for several months. This has deprived thousands of families of their sole source of income, plunging them into extreme poverty and hunger. The government has repeatedly justified this failure by citing the halt in crude oil exports due to Houthi threats and attacks on export terminals. However, observers and the public reject these flimsy justifications, asserting that rampant corruption within state institutions, a lack of transparency in collecting domestic revenues and at customs and tax checkpoints, and the wasteful spending of officials abroad in foreign currency are the true reasons behind this financial bankruptcy. The continued presence of officials abroad, managing citizens' affairs from hotels and foreign capitals, deepens the divide between leadership and the populace, reflecting official indifference to the humanitarian catastrophe devastating millions domestically.

Given this grim and bleak landscape, it is unequivocally clear that the Yemeni government and the Presidential Leadership Council bear full legal, moral, and historical responsibility for all forms of suffering and destruction experienced in the liberated provinces. The failure to provide a secure environment, the inability to secure minimum services, and the passive observation of currency erosion and widespread famine represent an explicit abandonment of sovereignty and the concept of a state that nurtures its people. Political promises, regular meetings, and media statements issued from closed rooms are no longer capable of calming the public mood, which is beginning to translate its anger into widespread popular protests, road blockades, and general strikes that paralyze commercial activity.

Restoring security and stability, and providing services in Aden and the liberated provinces, will not be achieved through palliative measures or temporary foreign aid. It requires a comprehensive administrative overhaul, starting with holding the corrupt accountable, activating oversight bodies, and compelling all officials to return and reside within the country to share the daily suffering of the citizens. It also necessitates a courageous political decision to merge all armed formations under a unified, official command structure subordinate to the Ministries of Defense and Interior, and to direct all domestic revenues to the Central Bank's treasury to support the currency and operate services.

Should the government persist in its current approach of evading responsibility and blaming external factors, the situation is heading towards a widespread popular explosion and comprehensive chaos from which no one will be exempt, and all will pay the price for this chronic governmental negligence and inaction.

A young Yemeni man, known for performing acrobatic stunts inside a volcanic crater, died on Friday after falling during a performance in the Al-Dhale province.

Local sources informed "Khabar" news agency that the individual, identified as Al-Qa'qa' bin Antar, fell while scaling the internal rock wall of the Haradhat Damt crater and executing a display. He sustained fatal injuries at the scene.

Sources confirmed that Al-Qa'qa' bin Antar had gained notoriety in recent years for undertaking dangerous performances within the volcanic crater by climbing its sheer rock faces from the inside. These stunts were performed despite the hazardous terrain and the absence of safety equipment or emergency exits.

Attempts were made to contact rescue teams from the district center, which is under Houthi control, following the incident. However, according to local sources, the response was not sufficiently prompt, which prevented his rescue.

Haradhat Damt is recognized as a prominent natural landmark in the old town of Damt district. It is a volcanic crater situated atop a mountain in the ancient city of Damt. Access is provided by an iron staircase comprising over 115 steps, with the internal depth of the crater reaching approximately 120 meters amidst steep, rocky terrain.

The stunts regularly performed by Al-Qa'qa' bin Antar inside the crater had previously raised concerns and warnings from local residents and observers due to the significant risks involved, compounded by the lack of safety apparatus and the absence of internal ladders or pathways that could be utilized in emergency situations.

Widespread cheating in Yemen's high school examinations in the interim capital Aden exposes a crisis that extends beyond the examination process to the core of the education sector's collapse during years of war. Accusations are mounting against the internationally recognized Yemeni government for its inability to protect the remaining educational system or provide basic necessities, from teacher salaries to a fair examination environment.

While authorities frequently speak of administrative and educational reforms, educational and field testimonies indicate that cheating has evolved from isolated incidents into an organized phenomenon, exploiting weak oversight and deteriorating economic conditions. This poses a threat of producing generations lacking fundamental scientific competence.

According to educational sources, exam papers are leaked minutes after distribution within examination halls. Mobile phones are used to photograph questions and send them to teachers outside the centers, who then solve them and redistribute answers via WhatsApp groups specific to each center before they are circulated among students. Sources told Al-Khabar News Agency that mobile phones, which are supposed to be confiscated before exams, are returned to three or four students in each hall about an hour after the test begins, a process reportedly coordinated with some invigilators, rendering anti-cheating measures merely symbolic and ineffective.

Observers have noted that students in several centers are collecting daily sums of money and handing them to some supervisors in exchange for overlooking the introduction of answers or facilitating their circulation within halls. This reveals the deep penetration of corruption in one of the most critical educational stages that determines the future of thousands of students. The crisis is not limited to oversight; educational sources indicate a significant decline in the quality of exam questions compared to previous years. Questions have become simpler, confined to a few pages with answers written directly on them, a stark contrast to the more complex models and separate answer sheets previously used, which educators consider further evidence of declining educational quality.

Teachers attribute a large part of the responsibility for these phenomena to their deteriorating living conditions, emphasizing that the average teacher's salary, not exceeding approximately 60,000 Yemeni riyals, has lost most of its purchasing power, equivalent to about 150 Saudi riyals at current exchange rates, compared to approximately 1,500 Saudi riyals before the war began in 2015. In recent years, teachers have staged numerous protests and strikes demanding salary increases and regular payments commensurate with the sharp rise in the cost of living. However, they state that the government's response has been limited to promises without practical solutions, while food and essential goods prices have risen to levels 15 times higher than before the war, pushing many families to the brink of poverty.

Educators believe this harsh economic reality has contributed to some education sector workers accepting practices they previously rejected, despite understanding their serious implications for the country's future. They point to the government leadership and relevant ministries as directly responsible for the environment that has allowed corruption to spread within schools due to the continued erosion of employee wages and neglect of sector reform. Concurrently, students face exceptional circumstances hindering their exam preparation. The electricity crisis persists in Aden, with recent weeks seeing outages of up to 20 hours daily against only four hours of operation, coinciding with heatwaves where temperatures ranged between 37 and 44 degrees Celsius in several coastal areas.

Students told Al-Khabar News Agency that the prolonged power outages have made night-time revision almost impossible, especially with high temperatures and the absence of alternatives, which has affected their ability to prepare for exams. Many families are unable to afford alternative power sources due to the deteriorating economic conditions. Observers believe that the continuation of this situation not only threatens the integrity of the exams but also undermines confidence in the entire educational system, as graduating batches of students with low scientific abilities will have long-term repercussions on universities, the labor market, and state institutions.

Educational specialists who spoke to Al-Khabar News Agency suggest that the Ministry of Education should consider installing surveillance cameras inside examination halls and strengthening inspection and oversight mechanisms. This should run parallel to addressing the root causes of the crisis, primarily improving teachers' living conditions and ensuring the regular payment of their salaries and the restoration of their real value, which is considered an essential condition for saving education from the path of collapse it has been on for years.

In response, several journalists and activists have condemned what they described as "the farce that the education sector is subjected to under the guise of high school certificate exams," stating that the widespread cheating has stripped the exams of their true value and harmed the principle of equal opportunity among students. Journalist Fathi bin Lazraq stated, "What is happening today are organized cheating operations, and the student who cheats is now luckier in obtaining higher grades than the diligent student," referring to what he considers a serious imbalance in educational assessment criteria. Bin Lazraq, along with other journalists and observers of the Yemeni educational scene, called for a review of the assessment mechanism for secondary school students. They proposed replacing the final exam system with a cumulative average calculation over the three years of secondary study, from which the final grade reflecting the student's true academic level would be derived, thereby reducing cheating and promoting fairness in assessing academic achievement.

In a country suffering one of the world's worst humanitarian and economic crises, the battle for education reform seems far beyond merely combating cheating. It is linked to the state's ability to restore its institutions and protect entire generations from falling victim to poverty, corruption, and service collapse, a responsibility many Yemenis believe the government has failed to undertake over the past decade.

Local sources reported that a guard accompanying the Governor of Aden opened fire indiscriminately at a force tasked with securing the home of the Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Abdulrahman Sheikh. This resulted in the immediate death of soldier Ahmed Al-Batani and injuries to several colleagues.

The intense gunfire also led to the deaths of Syrian doctor Sameh Ahmed Ahsan and his wife, also a doctor, who happened to be passing by the vicinity of the incident when it occurred. Further casualties included injuries to security forces present at the scene, with one critically wounded individual from the guard of Al-Sahaba Mosque being transferred to intensive care. Personnel from the Darain police, facility guards, and national security forces also sustained injuries.

Security forces immediately cordoned off the area. According to the Aden Security Directorate, a pursuit and manhunt for the suspect commenced immediately. The individual was later cornered and dealt with, resulting in his death at the scene. One national security soldier was injured during this operation.

In contrast, the official page of the local authority for Aden Governorate stated that the perpetrator managed to escape, presenting conflicting accounts regarding the gunman's fate.

Houthi militiamen besieged and violently assaulted a civilian, Hilaal Al-Barashi, in his home in the Tumba village of Ibb governorate's Yarim district, after forcibly expelling his family and abducting him. This act of aggression was reportedly facilitated by a Houthi security supervisor allegedly bribed to intervene in a familial dispute.

Local sources indicated that a figure identified as Dhu al-Fiqar al-Ayan, who impersonates a Houthi security supervisor, led an armed group that imposed a night-long siege on Al-Barashi's residence. According to these sources, as dawn broke and Al-Barashi emerged to start his vehicle, the armed elements opened fire on him, forcing him to flee to a neighbor's house.

Following his escape, the Houthi elements stormed Al-Barashi's home, using weapons to drive out the women and children before sealing the property. They then pursued Al-Barashi to his neighbor's home, where they forcibly entered, subjected him to severe beatings, and subsequently abducted him to the residence of Mohammed Ali Saleh al-Ayan. He was reportedly released later.

Sources confirmed that the motive behind this egregious violation stemmed from family disputes between Al-Barashi and certain relatives. It is alleged that the opposing party hired the Houthi supervisor, al-Ayan, with financial compensation to leverage his security position and weaponry to attack Al-Barashi and settle personal scores.

Recent times have seen an escalation in severe violations and assaults perpetrated by Houthi militia supervisors against citizens in Ibb governorate. The militia's security functions and military influence have reportedly been transformed into tools for extortion, settling personal vendettas, and illicit financial collection, all within a complete absence of a legal framework to protect civilians from the brutality and overreach of Houthi leadership and their armed gangs.

The district is under Houthi control, and accusations suggest facilitation and approval from militia leaders within the district.

Local sources reported that an individual identified as "Ahmed Abdo Ali" led dozens of armed men on Wednesday to seize land belonging to citizens in the "Souq Al-Khamis" area. Construction has reportedly begun on the site, with the intention of converting it into commercial shops without any legal basis.

The sources indicated that the aggression extended beyond land confiscation to include the closure of several existing shops in the area. Owners were allegedly threatened with physical harm if they voiced any objection or resistance to the seizure.

In a related development, residents of the area have complained about a grave escalation involving the desecration and seizure of cemetery land belonging to the Ministry of Endowments in "Souq Al-Khamis." The same official is reportedly involved in selling this land and converting parts of it into investment projects and commercial establishments.

Sources confirmed that these actions are being carried out with direct complicity and facilitation from the Houthi-appointed official for Endowments in the district. This official allegedly legitimizes the sales and confiscation of rights, threatening any objecting citizens with repression and death, using direct threats such as "shoot your head."

This incident occurs amidst a continuous surge in the looting of public and private land and properties in Ibb province by influential figures and leaders affiliated with the Houthi movement over recent years.

The UN reiterated its demand for the immediate and unconditional release of all detainees.

Farhan Haq, the Deputy Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General, stated that the Secretary-General "reiterates his condemnation of the detention of UN staff, NGO workers, civil society personnel, and diplomatic mission members by Houthi authorities," including arrest campaigns that occurred in 2021, 2023, 2024, and 2025.

The statement highlighted that one UN staff member died while in detention. Several detainees are reportedly held in complete isolation, denied contact with their families or the outside world, which the UN considers a clear violation of international law.

The UN emphasized that the continued detention of its personnel has caused significant suffering to their families and directly impacted the organization's and its partners' capacity to implement humanitarian and development programs, thereby hindering aid delivery to millions of Yemenis in need across the country.

The statement clarified that UN staff, including Yemeni nationals, are entitled to immunity from legal proceedings related to their official duties. It called for respect for these immunities and relevant international obligations.

The UN Secretary-General reaffirmed the importance of continued dialogue and engagement with Houthi authorities to secure the release of detainees and resume humanitarian and development activities. He stressed that humanitarian workers "should never be targeted or detained for carrying out their work."

The international organization affirmed its commitment to utilizing all available means to ensure the prompt and safe release of its detained staff. It reiterated its dedication to supporting the Yemeni people and their pursuit of a just and lasting peace.

In the current Yemeni context, the line between justifiable incompetence and disguised administrative treason has blurred, leading to a phenomenon more destructive than war itself: the defense of the legitimacy system's failures in liberated governorates, attempting to portray abysmal service and living conditions as an inescapable fate.

This relentless defense is not merely a political misstep but a deliberate national and moral crime against a populace exhausted and left with only their suffering. Observing Aden, Taiz, and Hadramout reveals that the tragedy is no longer accidental. Citizens enduring scorching heat without electricity, struggling for potable water, and witnessing their savings vanish with every currency devaluation, do not need platitudes or vague justifications blaming resource scarcity or halted oil exports.

Nations are not governed by excuses, nor are states managed by appeals for aid. A true leader finds solutions amidst adversity and shares hardship with their people, not one who manages vital crises from warm, distant capitals via screens and virtual communications. The most nauseating aspect of this situation is the voices and platforms attempting to frame failure as strategic patience, demanding gratitude from victims for their tormentors, who merely hold the title of legitimacy.

What legitimacy is this that cannot control currency speculation? What legitimacy allows entire cities to remain in darkness while influence grows and allocations for cronies, party, and regional interests multiply? Excuses of internal disputes within the Presidential Leadership Council or the government led by Shayea Al-Zindani are no longer acceptable. The struggle for influence and revenue in closed rooms, while citizens fight for survival, represents the peak of subservience and moral bankruptcy.

Defending this failure is not protecting state institutions, as detractors claim, but rather legitimizing sustained mismanagement and granting a free pass to the corruption system to continue devouring the nation's remaining lifeblood. True allegiance to legitimacy is not by worshipping its figures and justifying their sins, but by courageously rectifying its flagrant flaws with free pens and informed public pressure to cleanse it of profiteers and war merchants.

Yemenis have had their fill of promises and are tired of temporary relief aid that vanishes like embers without genuine structural reform in the energy and revenue sectors. History, which spares no one, is recording with shame today all those who justified the suffering of this people. The curse of dark cities and the tears of mothers unable to afford medicine for their children will haunt every pen that sold out, compromised, or beautified ugliness.

It is time for this system to realize that those incapable of serving and protecting their people from the ravages of hunger and disease have no option but to step down and leave. Yemen is great through its people, and it will not lack competent and loyal men capable of rescuing it from this dark administrative quagmire.

The US Treasury Department has imposed new sanctions on nine individuals and entities accused of operating networks that supported arms purchases for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Ministry of Defense. The measures are part of the administration's "economic rage" campaign aimed at increasing pressure on Tehran.

The Treasury stated that the sanctions targeted individuals and companies based in China and Hong Kong, accusing them of facilitating the purchase of military equipment and executing financial transactions related to Iran's arms programs. The networks also allegedly operated covert banking channels to finance these operations.

In a statement, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent asserted that the United States is working to "disrupt foreign supply chains that support the Iranian military's efforts to acquire weapons." He emphasized that Washington will continue to target any entities providing financial or logistical support to the Iranian military establishment.

According to the Treasury, the new list includes executives and commercial companies in Hong Kong and Shanghai, alongside Iranian and Chinese intermediaries implicated in purchasing military equipment for the IRGC and the Iranian Ministry of Defense. A company operating within a clandestine banking network used to facilitate payments for arms deals was also sanctioned.

The department clarified that these actions complement sanctions imposed in May, which targeted procurement networks associated with the IRGC and entities seeking to acquire military technologies and equipment from abroad. Concurrently, the US State Department announced separate sanctions on two individuals and two entities in Iran and Belarus for activities linked to Iran's conventional arms program.

The Treasury confirmed that the sanctions will freeze any assets or financial interests of the designated individuals and entities located within the United States or under the control of US persons. It also prohibits US citizens and companies from engaging in transactions with them, while warning of potential secondary sanctions on foreign financial institutions that facilitate dealings with the targeted entities. This move is part of a broader US policy to intensify economic pressure on Iran by targeting its external financing networks, sanctions evasion methods, and procurement channels for weapons and military components, as Washington seeks to curtail Tehran's military capabilities and the activities of its regional proxies.

A demining team from the "مسام" project has successfully dismantled landmines discovered near civilian homes in the Midi district, northwest Yemen, in a move aimed at protecting residents from the dangers posed by mines and war remnants scattered throughout the area.

Team leader 38, engineer Saif Al-Mashmari, stated that the team received a report from a citizen indicating the presence of anti-personnel and anti-tank mines south of the Bani Fayed area in Midi district, Hajjah Governorate. These mines were located near residential clusters and grazing areas, posing a direct threat to the lives and property of civilians.

Al-Mashmari explained that the team mobilized to the site immediately after receiving the report. Within the first few hours of initial inspection and surveying, they dismantled two anti-personnel mines. He confirmed that field survey operations are ongoing in the area, which has been classified as high-risk.

He added that the field teams issued warnings to residents, urging them to stay away from the site until demining operations are completed and all mines and war remnants are cleared. This is intended to ensure the complete security of the area and allow residents to resume their daily activities safely.

Citizen Ahmed Hattan, who filed the report, expressed his gratitude to the "مسام" team for their swift response and arrival. He noted that the mines were located approximately 80 meters from residents' homes.

Hattan emphasized that residents of the area have suffered for years from the dangers of mines spread around them, which have caused the death and injury of several civilians, the loss of livestock, and damage to agricultural equipment, in addition to restricting residents' movement and hindering their livelihoods.

As the United States considers a potential diplomatic path with Iran to de-escalate regional tensions, the Houthi movement in Yemen emerges as a significant factor capable of altering the conflict's trajectory not through direct confrontation, but by controlling one of the world's most critical maritime chokepoints. The group, seemingly on the periphery of the Israel-Iran conflict thus far, remains a key player, strategically holding unused leverage.

A recent analysis by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy suggests that the Houthis' actions in recent months have been limited, symbolic attacks, interpreted by some as a sign of restraint or neutrality. However, this overlooks the group's capacity to significantly disrupt global trade through the Bab el-Mandeb strait, a vital passage connecting the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden, through which a substantial portion of global commerce and energy transit flows. This threat, while not yet activated, looms large in regional and international calculations.

The analysis posits that Houthi restraint does not necessarily indicate weakness but rather stems from careful calculations. The group is hesitant to provoke a direct military confrontation with the United States, particularly after previous American and Israeli strikes that diminished its capabilities and necessitated a strategic regrouping. Concurrently, the Houthis recognize that a broad regional escalation could jeopardize their pursuit of a political settlement with Saudi Arabia, a resolution they seek to end the war in Yemen on terms that secure long-term political and economic gains.

Internal considerations also play a crucial role. Houthi popular mobilization is more easily achieved when linked to the Palestinian cause, becoming more complex when defending Iran or Hezbollah. Consequently, the Houthis have maintained a measured rhetoric, preserving internal maneuvering room without alienating public support.

However, this dynamic could change rapidly. With renewed tensions between Israel and Iran and escalating clashes in Lebanon, the Houthi militia has begun to amplify its threats, declaring readiness for escalation and alluding to targeting Israeli-linked vessels in the Red Sea. This shift in discourse suggests the Houthis are aligning their actions with the broader conflict trajectory and its proximity to their red lines.

The Washington Institute highlights that leveraging the Bab el-Mandeb, if it occurs, would transcend a mere military act, carrying global economic repercussions. The closure or even the threat to navigation in the strait would disrupt supply chains, inflate shipping and energy costs, and place additional strain on an already fragile global economy. Major regional powers, such as Egypt through reduced Suez Canal revenues and Saudi Arabia via threats to its oil exports, would bear direct costs from such an escalation.

In this context, Washington's calculations become more complex. Any potential agreement with Iran that fails to account for the behavior of its allies, particularly the Houthis, would be inherently fragile. Furthermore, concessions granted to Tehran in exchange for easing threats in the Strait of Hormuz could embolden other actors to replicate this model in the Bab el-Mandeb, normalizing the coercion of global trade as a negotiation tool.

The analysis asserts that the Houthis are not outside the conflict but positioned at its edges, awaiting the moment their maritime leverage becomes decisive. Current restraint is not a guarantee of de-escalation but rather an indicator that the group is postponing escalation for a time when its perceived costs are lower than its benefits, and its impact extends beyond Yemen and the region.

The Washington Institute's analysis concludes that given uncertain military options, increasing economic instability, and escalating tensions with key regional partners, Trump is justified in pursuing a negotiated settlement with Iran. However, any agreement must uphold the fundamental principle of freedom of navigation and avoid rewarding maritime coercion. If Iran secures direct financial concessions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, or imposes fees or taxes upon it, groups like the Houthis will draw a clear lesson: threatening global trade yields results.

Citizens and tribal members from the Bani Matar district, west of Sanaa, have accused influential leaders within the Houthi militia and officials from the General Authority for Land and Property to be involved in a systematic confiscation of vast tracts of their private agricultural land and real estate. This action is reportedly being carried out under the guise of so-called "urban planning schemes and newly established road networks."

Residents of the Ja'adib area in Bani Matar stated that influential figures within the General Authority for Lands, Surveying, and Urban Planning, in coordination with officials from the Public Works and Roads Office in Sanaa Governorate, are imposing what they describe as "illegal and illegitimate" engineering plans. These plans aim to expropriate approximately 75,737 agricultural dunams (a unit of land measurement) of their private and historical properties.

The affected residents have shared complaints indicating that the targeted lands are private holdings inherited from their ancestors, supported by centuries-old legal documents and deeds. They assert that these lands do not belong to the state or the endowments sector and represent the sole source of income for hundreds of families in the region.

They pointed out that technical committees have deliberately drawn unjustified routes and deviations that pass through fields and farms, with the objective of seizing the largest possible portion of agricultural land under the pretext of public interest and organization. However, they claim the true intention is to allocate the land for investment projects belonging to leaders within the Houthi movement.

These accusations arise amidst widespread land confiscation campaigns targeting citizens' lands and farms in various Sanaa districts, including Hamdan, Sanhan, and Bani Hushaysh. Thousands of dunams have been fenced off and seized under different pretexts, such as "Armed Forces Lands" or "Structural Plans." This situation has exacerbated tribal anger and resentment due to the encroachment on private property and the destruction of residents' livelihoods.

Protesters in Yemen's temporary capital, Aden, renewed their demonstrations on Wednesday morning, blocking key roads leading to the Crater district and setting ablaze discarded tires. The actions were a response to prolonged electricity outages and the deterioration of essential services, resulting in significant traffic disruptions across several areas.

Local sources reported that demonstrators used barriers and burning tires to seal off the entrances to Crater, expressing their deep frustration over the ongoing power crisis. This situation has been exacerbated by soaring temperatures, which have reached approximately 40 degrees Celsius.

The protests occur as multiple districts within Aden experience near-daily public unrest. Electricity outages now exceed 11 consecutive hours, with only about two hours of supply, placing immense pressure on residents of the coastal city.

Aden has grappled with a chronic electricity crisis for years, a problem that typically intensifies during the summer months. This is attributed to fuel shortages for power generation plants and a lack of sustainable solutions, compounded by the severe economic challenges facing the Yemeni government.

In the preceding two days, hundreds of residents participated in nightly demonstrations demanding improvements in electricity and public services. Some families have resorted to spending nights outdoors or in open spaces to escape the extreme heat within their homes during the extended power cuts, reflecting a growing public discontent with the deteriorating living and service conditions in the city.

Local sources reported that the confrontations were triggered by severe disputes over land ownership in the area. Both sides are reportedly using various types of light and medium weapons, including rocket-propelled grenades, amidst a climate of intense tension pervading the district.

The sources confirmed that these ongoing clashes are occurring in the complete absence of security forces affiliated with the Houthi militia. This situation has prompted tribal elders and community leaders to intervene, initiating local mediation efforts between the two parties to establish a truce, halt the bloodshed, and de-escalate the situation before the conflict widens.

The province of Al Jawf periodically experiences tribal conflicts and disputes. Accusations have been leveled against Houthi militia supervisors for fueling these conflicts and exacerbating differences among tribes, with the alleged aim of weakening them and facilitating control.

The incident highlights a significant and alarming rise in crime rates and a pervasive state of security breakdown in the city.

Local sources reported that three Houthi elements intercepted the citizen, identified as Majed Bakari, on the main road near Al Sunnah Mosque and in front of Al Khansaa School in Rada'a. The assailants proceeded to attack him, delivering a treacherous stab wound to his back before firing live ammunition at him directly to prevent any resistance.

The perpetrators subsequently robbed the victim, forcibly taking his money and mobile phone after shooting him, before fleeing the scene. Bakari was transported to a local hospital, where medical staff described his condition as extremely critical.

This heinous crime reflects the alarming security deterioration in Rada'a and across the districts of Al Bayda Governorate since the Houthi militia's takeover. The incident is characterized by a notable escalation in armed robbery, murder, and ambushes against citizens on public streets, with no decisive action taken to deter the perpetrators.

Yemen is experiencing a new wave of popular discontent that transcends traditional sectarian divides, reflecting widespread frustration and existential weariness among millions across the nation. Spontaneous public movements and discussions, spanning from cafes and social gatherings to social media platforms, signify a powerful outcry against the pervasive deterioration of life. Amidst this suffering, a notable shift in collective Yemeni consciousness is emerging, with the populace increasingly recalling the era of President Ali Abdullah Saleh and his political system, not merely as a past period, but as a symbol of a lost state with its institutions, security, and essential services, which have now become unattainable luxuries under the control of multiple de facto authorities, particularly in Houthi-controlled areas where citizens face severe restrictions, violations, and systematic poverty.

The Yemeni street is now expressing deep regret and bitterness over the decline that followed the events of 2011 and subsequent conflicts, which pushed the country to the brink of collapse. Yemenis speak with sorrow about the security that once permeated their daily lives, allowing free movement between governorates without fear of arbitrary arrest or extortion at checkpoints. The absence of organized crime and the former security forces' ability to enforce the rule of law are now yearned for in an environment plagued by insecurity, random killings, and the rise of armed gangs. Many observers believe that this popular yearning for Saleh's national and unifying legacy stems from a direct comparison between a state that accommodated all factions and narrow theocratic or regional authorities that practice systematic exclusion and treat the state as spoils of war rather than a responsibility towards citizens.

The crisis of unpaid salaries, particularly in Houthi-controlled regions, is a primary driver of the ongoing public unrest. Hundreds of thousands of state employees have been without a stable income for years, while the militia insists on a policy of starvation, linking humanitarian issues to political and military calculations. As 2026 begins, employees there face increasingly arbitrary measures, including withholding basic entitlements from teachers under the guise of official holidays and refusing to disburse even partial salaries. This deprivation coincides with a frightening surge in the prices of food and services, driven by exorbitant taxes and levies imposed by the militia on businesses. This has pushed ordinary citizens to the brink of starvation, making the previous regime's era of regular salaries, a stable national currency, and affordable goods seem like a golden age worth fighting to reclaim.

Yemenis are enduring the harsh reality of absent basic living necessities, with public services in unprecedented decline. In the southern governorates, citizens suffer through scorching summers with near-total electricity outages, paralyzing commerce and exacerbating health issues. In Houthi-controlled areas, public services have become a private investment sector managed by militia leaders, with electricity and water sold at exorbitant prices through commercial facilities owned by influential Houthi figures. Government hospitals have been replaced by costly private health centers, unaffordable for the struggling populace. This stark contrast between the infrastructure and development projects provided by the state under President Saleh and the current state of destruction, privatization, and institutional looting is the primary catalyst for the current Yemeni awakening, which calls for the departure of militias and the return of competent state officials.

The Yemeni arena has recently witnessed a sharp increase in criminal activity and grave human rights violations, amid a near-complete absence of an independent justice system. Courts in Houthi-controlled areas have become instruments for settling political scores, confiscating property, and legitimizing abuses against civilians. The rule of law has been supplanted by customary tribal rulings and security supervisors who wield absolute power. Citizens report widespread crimes of familial murder, armed robbery, and assaults on public and private property with no effective deterrent. This tragic situation evokes the legacy of the judiciary and legal institutions under the previous state, which provided a framework for justice and fairness, in stark contrast to the current state of lawlessness and the erosion of personal and social security.

The ongoing popular uprising in Yemen is not a momentary event but an accumulation of years of oppression, deprivation, and systematic plunder. Yemenis in both the north and south have realized that the hollow slogans of violent groups and armed militias have brought them only death, destruction, and displacement. When citizens compare their current struggle for clean water or cooking gas, or their inability to afford basic food, with their situation a decade and a half ago, they are driven by a bitter awareness to acknowledge that the republican system and the state officials of Saleh's era were the true guarantors of the country's unity, development, and stability.

The awakening of public consciousness, expressed on social media and elsewhere, with signs pointing towards future street protests challenging repression and arbitrary arrests, and celebrating national and republican symbols, is a clear manifestation of an overwhelming desire to break free from constraints. It signals a demand for the departure of corrupt authorities and a search for a path to revive the Yemeni state and its national institutions, enabling them to resume their role in protecting individuals, preserving dignity, and upholding legitimate rights to a decent life and sustainable security.

Military leaders affiliated with the Islah Party are accused of facilitating and protecting these operations.

The smuggling routes reportedly originate from the Tor Al-Baha district in Lahj Governorate, passing through Al-Hujariyah, Jabal Habashi, and Maqbana district, ultimately reaching the Houthi-controlled Hajda market. These shipments are said to be moving openly and around the clock.

According to information obtained, military convoys belonging to various brigades are tasked with escorting these shipments and securing their passage to the front lines. This escort service aims to prevent local residents or checkpoints from intercepting the cargo.

Journalist Adonis Al-Dukhaini highlighted a previous incident where the "17th Infantry Brigade" detained two of its own soldiers in the Sa'il Wadi Al-Ashrouh area. The detention occurred after the soldiers stopped and inspected a smuggled shipment, underscoring the stringent measures reportedly in place to safeguard smuggling routes for the benefit of the Houthis.

The Red Sea Ports Authority has refuted reports claiming that the commercial vessel "GAZ GMS," recently subjected to U.S. sanctions, docked and unloaded cargo at the port of Mokha. The authority dismissed these reports as "allegations not based on any factual information."

In a press statement, the authority stated that the circulated information regarding the docking and unloading of the "GAZ GMS" at the port is misleading and entirely untrue. It emphasized that the port operates in accordance with the prevailing laws and regulations of the Republic of Yemen, and that maritime traffic is subject to continuous and transparent monitoring.

The authority clarified that the records of Mokha Port and its accredited monitoring systems conclusively prove that the aforementioned vessel did not enter the port. It stressed its full commitment to international legal standards and regulations governing maritime navigation.

The authority affirmed that the management of Mokha Port adheres to strict inspection and monitoring procedures for all arriving vessels, and does not permit the reception or provision of any services to vessels or commercial networks subject to international sanctions, including transit services.

The authority urged media outlets and news platforms to exercise accuracy and credibility when reporting on Yemeni ports, and to rely on official sources from the Ministry of Transport and port management for correct information. This, it stated, contributes to protecting the reputation of Yemeni ports and enhancing international confidence in the country's maritime transport sector.

Residents in Aden and the governorates of Hadramaut, Abyan, Lahij, Shabwah, Mahrah, and Socotra are enduring one of the most severe electricity crises in years, marked by unprecedented power outages during the summer and growing public discontent over the fate of foreign aid and grants allocated to the power sector.

Despite substantial support from Saudi Arabia and the UAE for the electricity sector in liberated areas since 2015, the current state of service reveals a significant disparity between the funds expended and the quality of service provided. Major cities continue to suffer from prolonged daily blackouts, with crises recurring each summer.

Official data indicates that Saudi Arabia alone provided multiple fuel grants for electricity generation stations in liberated governorates. These grants amounted to approximately $180 million in 2018, $422 million in 2021, and $200 million in 2022. A new grant, announced for early 2026, is valued at $150 million and includes 339 million liters of diesel and mazut to operate over 70 power stations across various Yemeni governorates, bringing the total announced Saudi grants for electricity fuel in recent years to over $952 million.

Support has also extended to the construction and rehabilitation of new power generation plants, notably the Al-Riyadh station in Aden, alongside other projects to upgrade electrical infrastructure in several governorates. Nevertheless, the power system remains plagued by frequent breakdowns, high operational costs, and a near-complete reliance on subsidized fuel.

This situation raises a fundamental question: Where have the funds from these grants gone? Citizens experiencing extended periods of darkness do not see tangible evidence of the announced sums. The persistence of these crises, despite the influx of hundreds of millions of dollars, points to systemic issues beyond mere fuel shortages, encompassing problems in management, revenue collection, technical and commercial losses, and a lack of sustainable maintenance and modernization for the sector.

Economic experts argue that oil grants address symptoms rather than the root causes of the crisis. Fuel is consumed within a few months, and the crisis resurfaces due to a lack of genuine investment in renewable energy, incomplete gas and solar projects, and continued dependence on outdated, high-cost power stations. In Hadramaut, Yemen's largest oil-producing governorate, the electricity crisis recurs annually despite vast oil and gas resources. Meanwhile, Aden, the government's temporary capital, faces recurrent public protests due to deteriorating service and power cuts during peak summer periods.

Observers suggest the electricity crisis exemplifies Yemen's broader public administration challenges, with successive governments failing to translate foreign grants into sustainable solutions. While announced grants total hundreds of millions of dollars, citizens continue to bear the cost of institutional failure through power outages, business disruptions, and increased living expenses. With new shipments of Saudi fuel expected in 2026, the true challenge lies not just in fuel provision but in ensuring transparency and accountability in managing this support and directing it towards structural reforms that can end the cycle of recurring crises that have exhausted citizens and the local economy.

The organization, "Ain for Human Rights," stated in a release on Monday that Sheikh Al-Mas'oudi is suffering from critical health complications due to chronic illnesses. The statement highlighted that he has lost vision in one eye as a result of being denied specialized medical care and deliberate neglect. Furthermore, he has been prevented from contacting his family or meeting with his lawyer, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international conventions and agreements concerning the treatment of prisoners.

In a related matter, the organization drew attention to the detention of approximately 35 civilians from the "Al Masoud" tribe in the same prison for over 18 months. This detention has occurred under complete secrecy and a total lack of transparency regarding their legal status, with their fundamental rights to defense or appearance before independent judicial bodies to assess the legality of their detention being denied.

Ain for Human Rights emphasized in its statement that the right to physical integrity and personal security, the prohibition of arbitrary detention, and the provision of comprehensive medical care are inherent rights guaranteed by international human rights law, particularly the "International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights."

The organization called for the immediate and unconditional release of Sheikh Shaif Jabr Al-Mas'oudi on health and humanitarian grounds, or for him to be afforded fair and transparent legal proceedings. It also urged for urgent and specialized medical care for Sheikh Al-Mas'oudi, allowing an independent medical committee to examine and assess his condition immediately. The group further demanded that the rights of all detained individuals from the "Al Masoud" tribe to communicate with their families and facilitate visits from their lawyers without restrictions be ensured.

In conclusion, "Ain" issued an urgent appeal to the office of the UN Secretary-General's Special Envoy to Yemen, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the International Committee of the Red Cross, urging their immediate intervention to activate monitoring mechanisms in prisons and ensure the safety of detainees. The organization reminded all parties to the conflict that any harm to the physical and health integrity of detainees constitutes a grave violation that warrants international legal accountability and does not fall under statutes of limitations.

A young man was critically injured by live ammunition during escalating protests in Aden, Yemen's temporary capital, for a second consecutive day. Demonstrations intensified due to severe electricity outages and deteriorating basic services, spreading to areas near the government headquarters and the international airport.

Local sources identified the injured individual as Naseem Abdullah Ali, a resident of Al-Bastain neighborhood. He sustained a gunshot wound to the head while participating in a protest at "Joulat Al-Safina" roundabout in the Dar Saad district. He was immediately transported to a nearby hospital and is currently in intensive care in serious condition.

The protests, which gained momentum throughout Monday, saw dozens of citizens gather in front of the Ma'ashiq Presidential Palace, the seat of the Yemeni government. Demonstrators chanted slogans demanding the dismissal of officials and an end to the suffering of the city's residents, who are enduring a suffocating summer marked by prolonged and frequent power cuts.

Protesters emphasized that the collapse of the power system has exacerbated the already unbearable living and health burdens on the population. Reports indicate that demonstrators attempted to block the main roads leading to Aden International Airport in the Khormaksar district, aiming to disrupt movement and pressure authorities to immediately address their demands, including the provision of fuel for power generation stations.

The temporary capital, Aden, and several other governorates are experiencing widespread protests as residents take to the streets to condemn the deteriorating electricity service. The duration of power outages has reportedly reached 20 hours off and only two hours on within a 24-hour period, coinciding with an intense heatwave affecting the country.

The local authority in the Al-Mudariyah and Ras Al-Ara district of Lahj Governorate, southern Yemen, has announced the complete and immediate closure of the Ras Al-Ara maritime port. The decision, effective Sunday, June 7, 2026, was issued under directives from the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, the Prime Minister, and the Governor of Lahj Governorate.

According to the issued document, the closure aims to stabilize security conditions and address existing irregularities along the governorate's coastline. It also stipulates the cessation of all commercial activities through the port, including imports and exports, and prohibits the direct entry or exit of any goods. The local authority has instructed port management and security agencies to inform agents, suppliers, and merchants to immediately halt their commercial operations and comply with security measures related to the closure.

The directive exempts shipments that departed from neighboring countries' ports prior to the issuance of the directives. A two-week grace period, ending June 20 of the current month, has been granted for the reception of these goods. No new shipments will be accepted after this date.

The local authority, citing the document, indicated that the higher authorities issuing the directives bear responsibility for the consequences of the decision. It was noted that the port closure could impact the living conditions and development in the region. The authority also warned that the measure might disrupt some service projects, affect the operations of several health facilities, and potentially lead to the closure of some educational institutions, given the port's significance as a primary source of resources and services in the area.

Observers suggest that the complete closure of the maritime port stems from security and regulatory reasons, forming part of the state's efforts to combat various smuggling operations that have become active in the coastal region recently.

Sana'a's Judges Syndicate has vehemently condemned an assassination attempt and armed assault targeting Judge Abdullah Mansour Ahmed Taneen. The incident occurred as the judge was returning from Al-Madhan district in Amran province to Sana'a, in the Al-Hajar area of Shiharah district, which is under the control of the Houthi terrorist militia. The syndicate considers this act a grave violation of the sanctity of the judiciary and the security of society.

In an official statement issued on Monday, June 8, 2026, the syndicate asserted that the heinous assassination attempt was not an isolated incident but, according to initial investigations, was part of a systematic retaliatory action. This action was allegedly taken because of the judge's performance of his judicial duties and previous strict legal measures he had implemented against individuals referred for investigation in corruption and bribery cases during his prior tenure at the Shiharah court.

The statement further clarified that the abhorrent assault resulted in the martyrdom of Haj Yahya Ahmed Al-Sareemi, a prominent social figure known for his mediation efforts. Al-Sareemi had actively participated with the judge in resolving a protracted tribal dispute that had persisted for approximately 12 years in Al-Madhan district.

The Judges Syndicate warned of the catastrophic implications of this incident should it be proven that security elements or leaders affiliated with the Houthi militia were involved in its commission or complicity. It emphasized that targeting a judge due to his rulings and decisions constitutes a direct assault on the prestige of the judiciary and a dangerous threatening message aimed at undermining the independence of the judicial authority and intimidating its custodians, deterring them from fulfilling their noble mission.

The statement demanded that the security authorities swiftly apprehend all perpetrators, both planners and executors, and refer them to the specialized criminal prosecution. It also called for the provision of necessary and complete security protection for members of the judiciary, stressing that complacency or impunity in such crimes undermines the foundations of stability and opens the door wide to the rule of the jungle and chaos.

The syndicate's statement came hours after Judge Abdullah Taneen announced his resignation to the Houthi-affiliated Supreme Judicial Council, citing "health reasons." This step coincided with the disregard for his prior criminal complaint regarding the incident and the encroachment of Houthi security elements overseeing Shiharah district, whose involvement in orchestrating the armed ambush has been established.
